Marshfield – The Post 54 Blue Devils added to its win column with a pair of wins on Monday and Tuesday over the Post 9 Rangers of Wisconsin Rapids and Eau Claire Legion before dropping the final contest of a double header to Eau Claire Tuesday.
The Blue Devil’s batting found early success in a 7-4 win over Wisconsin Rapids on Monday.
Marshfield scored three runs in both the first and second innings to take a 6-0 lead. Wisconsin Rapids answered with two runs of its own in the third inning, but Marshfield countered with another score in the fourth.
Wisconsin Rapids rally in the seventh inning came up short as the Blue Devils defense strengthened to secure the win after surrendering two more runs.
Second baseman Devin Toburen led Marshfield on offense with three hits on four at bats.
Pitcher Jake Brueggen picked up the win for the Blue Devils.
In game one of a two game series on Tuesday, the Blue Devils rallied from an early deficit to take down Eau Claire Legion 4-3.
After trailing 2-0 after the first inning, Marshfield scored three runs to take the lead heading into the third. Dakota Landphier hit a homerun in the third inning to extend the Blue Devil’s lead to 4-2.
Eau Claire managed just one run the rest of the game as Marshfield held on for the victory.
Pitcher Connor Jasurda earned the win after pitching a complete game.
The Blue Devils bats were stifled by Eau Claire in game two, as the team was limited to just two hits in a 13-1 loss.
Eau Claire’s offense found life as it scored 12 runs in the first two innings combined.
Marshfield’s lone score came in the third inning as Logan Matson batted in a run.
The Blue Devils have won 13 of its last 16 games as the team heads into the Eau Claire Tournament Friday. Marshfield will face the Green Bay Shockers Friday, Winona and Eau Claire Saturday, followed by Altoona Monday.
The Blue devils return to Jack Hackman Field to host the Wausau Bulldogs on Monday. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
