Zagreb, Croatia – Stratford native, Macey Kilty, continues her tear through the wrestling world and on her way to Japan 2020. At the conclusion of yesterday’s Cadet 5 World Championship it was Kilty raising the American flag high while claiming the gold championship belt in the 69kg freestyle.
Kilty soundly defeated Sweeden’s Julie Fridland by a 9-3 margin. Kilty scored a takedown with 1:22 left to take a 4-2 advantage and then finished up Fridland with another takedown and a caution.
In a dominant display of wrestling, Kilty tore through the entire field en route to the championship. She outscored her opponents 31-4 including a fall in the semi-finals. The finals match against Fridland was the only match for Kilty that went the distance.
Next up for Kilty are the Junior World Championships located in Trnava, Slovakia in September.
