Rib Lake – The Marshfield Chaparrals made quick work of its host the Spirit Twins Sunday afternoon as the visitors five runs in the third inning propelled the team to a 13-3 win after just seven innings of play.
Marshfield began the game with three runs in the first inning, followed by five in the third, three in the fifth and two in the final inning.
The Spirit Twins managed two runs in the fourth inning and one in the fifth before being held scoreless the rest of the way.
Riley Erickson led the Chaparrals in batting with three hits and four RBI’s on four trips to the plate, including a homerun in the seventh inning.
Noah Panzer also recorded a homerun for the Chaparrals as he blasted a ball over the centerfield fence in the third inning.
Pitcher Ryan Metz picked up the win for the Chaparrals after pitching six innings and surrendering three runs.
Bobby Pilz closed the game for Marshfield, pitching a scoreless seventh inning that included two strikeouts.
With the win, Marshfield improves its record to 13-1 on the season, extend their win streak to ten consecutive and remains undefeated at home with eight wins.
The Chaparrals return home to host the Plover Pterodactyls on Wednesday, July 11, at Jack Hackman Field. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m.
